EDP’s annual Playwrighting Festival brings eight original short plays to the stage, each featuring a playwright, director, and cast. With a new theme each year, the festival celebrates fresh voices and new work while inviting audiences to be part of the experience by voting for their favorite play.

Finalists are selected from submissions received from around the globe, giving emerging and established playwrights the opportunity to see their work brought to life, gain recognition, and compete for awards. Behind the scenes, a dedicated team of volunteer readers and judges—local Seattle-area theatre lovers and playwrights—help to bring these new works to the stage.

Following the final performance, awards are presented for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place Judges’ Awards, along with the coveted Overall Audience Favorite.
