56th Annual Juried Exhibition
A sculpture done in this uniquely Pacific Northwest method is a true original, never to be duplicated – a stunning transformation of nature’s unique art.
Northwest Driftwood Artists begin with weathered wood gathered from forests, rivers, mountain lakes, beaches, even clear-cut areas.
The LuRon process starts with removal of soft, rotten wood, getting down to the hard wood where its beautiful grain is revealed. Some sculpting or shaping may be done to give the piece its most artistic form. After meticulous cleaning and sanding, the wood is burnished with a deer antler and a subtle finish applied to produce a soft, lustrous look.
