In partnership with Edmonds School District Native Education, Edmonds Center for the Arts invites the community to a free Orange Shirt Day Community Workshop honoring the children and families impacted by the Indian boarding school system.
Participants are invited to decorate orange shirts in remembrance while learning about the significance of Orange Shirt Day and its message of truth, healing, and remembrance. The workshop will feature an Indigenous elder sharing her family’s personal experiences with the boarding school system, offering a meaningful opportunity to listen, reflect, and learn.
Designed for all ages, this intergenerational event creates space for families and community members to come together in reflection and solidarity. Decorated shirts may be worn by students throughout the district during Orange Shirt Day observances in October, helping raise awareness and honor the strength and resilience of Native communities.
This event is free with registration.
