The ideal hub for adventures in the Seattle region, Lynnwood can take you places you might never have imagined before. What if we told you it can even transport you to…
The future.
Less than 10 minutes north of Lynnwood lies Paine Field (formerly known as the Snohomish County Airport). This regional dual-runway air travel hub is also home to a premier aerospace attraction that takes flight five days a week.
This unique and engaging experience is known as Boeing Future of Flight Tour. And it offers its curious visitors a journey into aviation inspiration and imagination.
Punch Your Ticket in Advance
Plan before you go! Get ready for the future by taking just a few moments to purchase your tickets online. A General Admission ticket allows access to the gallery and sky deck, while the Boeing Backstage Pass offers even more insight and adventure via an interactive theater experience.
Tickets range from $5-12, depending on which experience you choose (check their website for current pricing). Children ages 5 and younger may enter free of charge. You can also purchase an annual pass that grants you entirely free admission for every visit.
While you’re on the Future of Flight website, you can also join the email list to receive the latest gallery updates, news, and special event announcements. You can always check out the Boeing Future of Flight Tour social media channels on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter at any time.
Plan Your Adventure
Now that your tickets are (virtually) in hand, you can plan your day of aviation adventure near Lynnwood. Keep in mind that Boeing Future of Flight Tour is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Hours of operation on Thursday through Monday run from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Chart Your Course
When it comes time to board your own Future of Flight Tour, you can navigate to its Paine Field by hitting Highway 99 N and following it to WA-525 N (aka the Mukilteo Speedway). Check out the easy-to-follow directions here—or view the location on Google Maps.
Once You Arrive…
Hooray! If you purchased a General Admission ticket, you get a dual dose of adventure. Take your time to enjoy and absorb a colorful gallery that highlights Boeing’s rich and long legacy. Then head to the panoramic sky deck to soak in jaw-dropping, eye-popping views of daily plane activity—along with the majestic Northern Cascades.
When you purchase your tickets online, you can also choose to upgrade and take advantage of the Backstage Pass. This interactive theater experience is led by an engaging host, who provides insight into the many milestones and breakthroughs Boeing has helped spark and drive over the decades.
Drones and Kids’ Zones
Looking for something fun for the kids—that can also make you feel like a kid all over again? Get an up-close look and hands-on feel for the many drones and robotics Boeing is currently creating. You’ll realize that the next wave of aviation innovation is already well underway here. Even better, you’ll have a blast doing it.
There’s also a Kids’ Zone chock full of engaging, hands-on activities that inspire creativity and play.
Swag Up: Hit the Boeing Store
After you’ve dug deep into Boeing’s fascinating history and indelible impact on the course of aviation, you can show your appreciation–and be prepared for crisp Lynnwood evenings–by donning a fresh Boeing hoodie from the Boeing Store. If you want to get a head start on showing your swag for Boeing, you can visit the online Boeing Store right now—or anytime you choose.
Satisfy Your Cravings
If all this learning, doing, experiencing, and history makes you hungry, you can pull up a seat and grab a bite at the on-site Boeing Café. What’s better than a “light flight” lunch, anyway?
Direct from the Factory…
Boeing Future of Flight also serves as the gateway to the sprawling 4.3-million-square-foot Boeing Everett Factory. First opened in 1967, the Factory houses the 747, 767, 777, and 787 program production lines—and ranks as the world’s largest aircraft production building by volume. Boeing is working to launch the return of their factory tours by Summer 2023. Make sure to check the website ahead of time for more information on factory tours.
As you can see, Boeing Future of Flight packs a lot of activity, engagement, and interactivity into one day of adventure. So be sure to bring your energy and imagination—and let Boeing supply the rest. And remember, there’s no better runway to take off and see it all than Lynnwood. We hope to see you at some of our cozy accomodations soon!
