Aviation District at Paine Field

Paine Field serves as the perfect landing spot to begin your Lynnwood aviation adventure. This active airport houses a variety of aviation tenants and businesses, including two stellar museums. At the Aviation District, you’ll find the Future of Flight Aviation Center & Boeing Tour as well as the Flying Heritage & Combat Armor Museum. With both just steps from each other, you can easily explore Paine Field’s amazing aviation attractions in one visit.

Boeing Future of Flight and Everett Factory Tour

Journey into the world of aviation at Boeing Future of Flight in Mukilteo, the gateway for the Boeing Everett Factory Tour. The Everett Factory Tour is an 80-minute guided experience where visitors enter the world’s largest building by volume, and get excusive sweeping views of the 777/777X airplane assembly process, learn the history of Boeing’s Everett location, and get a peek at the future of commercial aviation.

At Boeing Future of Flight, explore the Gallery, featuring interactive exhibits that delve into flight history and showcase future concepts. Catch amazing views of the active airport and airplanes from the Sky Deck and ignite a passion for flight in the Kids’ Zone filled with hands-on fun. Space enthusiasts can even explore a full-scale mockup of the U.S. Space Lab, an integral part of the International Space Station.

Boeing Future of Flight is open Thursday through Monday. Closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Check the daily schedule online for ticket availability to avoid sold-out tours. Arrive at least 30 minutes in advance of your scheduled tour time to allow for check-in and stowing of personal belongings in their complimentary lockers before the hands-free tour.

Flying Heritage & Combat Armor Museum

Just across from the Boeing Tour, the Flying Heritage & Combat Armor Museum (FHC) showcases one of the world’s top collections of rare and authentic military aircraft, vehicles and artillery. This museum’s holdings span from the pioneering days of aviation in World War I all the way up through the jet age and Cold War era.

At the FHC, you can get up close to iconic fighters, bombers and other aircraft from multiple nations. From the Grumman F4F Wildcat and the P-47 Thunderbolt to the F-86 Sabre and Soviet MiG-29, the museum’s treasures include some of the most important planes in military aviation history. Most are still airworthy and take to the skies at the museum’s annual showstopping outdoor events. Many of the planes on display also have combat history.

In addition to the aircraft, you’ll find an amazing assemblage of armored vehicles, tanks, weapons and artillery providing a multi-dimensional glimpse into 20th century warfare. The museum’s exhibits and collections create an unforgettable experience, especially for history buffs and military aviation fans.

The Flying Heritage & Combat Armor Museum is open Thursday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Regular admission is $25, with $18 discounted admission available to youth, students, military/veteran, and seniors (65+) with valid ID. Next-day visitors with proof of purchase are also eligible for discount admission. Children under 7 are free.

Seafair Weekend

A boating event, air show, and festival rolled into one, Seafair Weekend is an unmissable event for aviation buffs! From August 2-4, get ready to witness some of the most death-defying, heart-stopping aerial performances you’ve ever seen. This weekend-long event takes place at Genesee Park and on Lake Washington in Seattle, and the natural beauty is almost as awe-inspiring as the incredible aerial displays you’ll get to see. World-renowned aviation teams like the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and the U.S. Army Golden Knights will be there to showcase their elite flying skills. Civilian pilots will also get in on the action, plus you’ll see vintage aircraft and parachute demonstrations that will take your breath away.
